That makes no more sense,
Than what I am doing!
At least I’m invited,
And nobody’s booin’.
My friends keep on sayin’,
What I should have done,
While I’m up here tryin’,
To help folks have fun.

I do sometimes wonder,
How it all came about.
I have no great talent,
Or political clout.
Let my critical friends,
Just bad mouth themselves;
And crawl back up on,
Their “do nothin” shelves!

So, with your permission,
I’ll make up some stuff,
Then with fear and trembling..
Just hope it’s enough,
To help you unwind,
And have a good time,
Forget your own problems,
While you’re laughin’ at mine!
